When i mentioned ban risks I was mostly talking about ripping a personal edit/sculpt, tho the chances of you getting caught wearing it and then getting reported are low they are never zero

I should be the one apologizing for firing up this entire chain of comments in the first place, I am very happy to hear the moderation team takes this rule seriously I wouldn't want any ripped models to end up on this site it's a very important place where the massive majority of VRChat users get their avatars from including myself

It just doesn't make sense to publish ripped models. After all, you can always get the original package and publish it. It will be much better than a simple ripped one. And it's easier for people.


A ripped model is just a model mesh and nothing more. There are no settings, nothing but the mesh. Those who know how to use Blender and Unity - for them it does not matter whether the model is ripped or not. They can add everything they need to the model themselves. For ripped model you are not where and no one will not ban you. After all, to determine the ripped model or not - in the game itself is simply impossible. And how the ripped model will look like in the end - depends on your skills and your knowledge of Blender and Unity. If you think carefully, then buy models in the year 2025 - just does not make sense and it's a waste of money. After all, you can always pull any model you need directly from the game. Even though you will call it a rip, but it will always be enough for any of your desires. (Not the original, with all its features... but still)

As they say - it's a matter of taste and colour. But anyway, we try not to let ripoff models on the site. Even though we can't always identify such things 100%.

babyWardhead, to provide further context the site does not provide ripped avatars it instead provides the official unitypackages that can be either purchased from the creator's page or distributed in a place like discord
I think you confused yourself by thinking this site provides rips which is absolutely not the case as you can see from the rules I quoted earlier

It's a rule I find really important because ripped avatars can be either a ban risk or can be very broken and take away from having the actual package uploaded hence why I bring it up so much
