Honestly, they are popular furs, so they can legit get away with anything. But DRM is a high security risk if not done correctly; maybe not for your home PC, but your accounts you use for the Auth tokens, even to get access to the content.

The creators also pirated the software that prevents piracy. Basic research tells you how DRMs need to be set up, and considering the creators didn't disclose where the 3rd party will be keeping the DRM files/folders. A lot of cybersecurity nuts really told them to fuck off with it.

And considering people have beef with Meatythighs, due to past issues with witch-hunting his exes which I think the gentleman below was probably a victim of, considering the hate in their first comment. He also isn't wrong, I guess?

But from a security standpoint, yeah, do your research on why DRMs can pose a huge risk if it isn't a professional company (Which even then that probably wouldn't matter) handling it with all the security possible to keep malicious people off their servers.

Now, for any people who are defending the creators or want the creators to earn their money for the model. You do realize that if you let the creator know, they can come to the website and ask politely for it to be taken down, right? It's part of its policy. The Wickerbeast got DMCA's for crying out loud.

And as for the doxxing and death threats, yeah that is horrible but I also don't think everyone in the furry community is that deranged.... though considering people blindly follow popular furs word as a cult idk anymore the community is kinda shit nowadays with how easy it is to manipulate people with the porn etc,

ikbenbR, The first file is just the Unity package. The one that says "(All File)" has.. well, all the files. Substance Painter, Unity, Blender, etc etc. Neither should have the DRM... I hope.

Plus the Anti-Piracy Software wouldn't have done much either way with how VRChat itself handles Avatars. DRM software and tools were used before and still easily gotten behind.

Plus if I also recall, they didn't pay for the software either, and the creator of said software came towards them on twitter if I am remembering this correctly. Let alone the failure of providing a safe area for the DRM drop off point.

For the record, DRM's cannot grant access to your PC. What it does do is encrypts data, so you'll need to have a key/tool/etc. to access the data. If something is being included in a package, that opens access to your PC, it's something else, and should still be addressed. Also, too many of y'all out there really don't understand what it takes to actually access someone else's computer.
